Regarded as one of the most outstanding and diverse flutists of today, Ginka Ortega takes us on a journey from the mastery of the classics to the fascinating spectrum of world music; ranging from her Bulgarian roots to the music of Latin America and the passion of Spanish Flamenco. Called "Faraona de la Flauta Flamenca," Ortega sings Flamenco on the flute, reinventing cante jondo, (flamenco's deep singing) with new mesmerizing possibilities, reaching a new generation of international audiences to experience the power, passion and trance-like spirituality of duende. Her extended discography includes the "The Music of Schubert," "The Flute of Bulgaria," "Undine," "French Flute Music," "The Music of Astor Piazzolla- Flute with Bayan," "The Magic Flutes, "The Latin Flute," "Life Cycle," "La Flauta Flamenca," "Tales of China," "Flute Music from Catalunya," "Ortega performs Sardanas." Gerova Ortega has created original music for film, documentaries, television, Live Arts, Healing Arts, and has performed for International Festivals throughout Spain, France, Italy, Bulgaria, Russia, Finland, Japan, China, the Middle East, West Indies, Latin America, U.S., and Canada, enjoying wide media coverage including Univision, Good Morning America, and National Geographic Magazine.In the "Marquis of Who's Who of International Entertainment," her special invitational concerts for dignitaries and government leaders include the Nobel Prize "La Donna Del Mondo," Rome, "Ambassadors of International Women in the Arts," in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Paris, London, and Mexico City. Born in Preslav, Bulgaria, Gerova Ortega hold degrees in Performance, Graduate and Post Graduate from, Varna State School of Music, Wayne State University, Oberlin Conservatory and the University of Michigan, and has worked with Professors Marcel Moyse, Robert Willoughby, Houenstein, Jean Pierre Rampal. Awarded the title of "Michigan Musical Ambassador" and "Arts Award" by the Governor and the State of Michigan, she is a soloist with "Michigan Touring Arts", "Arts Midwest", and the "International Festivals in Catalunya, Spain."
